President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili paid tribute to the memory of the late Prime Minister 13 years ago Zurab Zhvania’s 55th anniversary.
“Because of his death, the pain has not subsided and unfortunately we have not seen the result of the investigation. It is really unpleasant to know that we are not fully informed and the answer is not about the killing of this very important political leader. Neither Zura, as a strategic thinking politician, was needed. I will once again remember her contribution and once again I want to express my love towards him and support his family “, Giorgi Margvelashvili said.
Zurab Zhvania started his political career in 1988. He formed a group of young people with the support of science and established an ecological association, on which the movement “Georgian Greens” was created. In 1992 he became the first co-chairman of the European “Greens” from Eastern Europe.
Since 1995, during the period of Zurab Zhvania’s Parliamentary Speaker, the Parliament of Georgia has created a completely new legislative system based on the principles of democracy, human rights and market economy, which greatly contributed to Georgia’s integration into international society.
On January 27, 1999, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe unanimously supported Georgia’s accession to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. In his speech, Georgian politician has made a historic phrase – “I’m Georgian and therefore I am European.”
Since February 2004, Zurab Zhvania has been the prime minister of the country. Georgian politician died on February 3, 2005, 41 years old.
